Forest Gate Community School is the best performing community school in Newham after 71 per cent of pupils achieved A * to C grades in five or more GCSEs in 2015. It is a mixed comprehensive secondary school in the London Borough of Newham, East London,〔http://www.forestgate.newham.sch.uk/〕 led by head teacher Simon Elliott. In 2015, the school was rated the most improved in Newham and among the most improved in London after results went up 17 per cent on the previous year. The school also runs a scholarship programme that has seen five pupils win places at the UK’s top independent schools. The school is situated in Forest Lane, close to Forest Gate railway station. The chair of governors is Jan Tallis. The school’s motto is Fly, Grow, Connect, Strive. == GCSEs == Key statistics from GCSE results in 2015: More than 1 in 4 of our students got 3 or more A * or A grades. 87% of our students gained an A *-C grade in English.
